I am an Illustrator and Designer who loves watching fireflies on a summer evening and playing with my mischievous ferrets and corgis. Video game art and portraiture are my passions! I love bringing a sense of dark whimsicality to all my artwork and using strong lighting to create an air of mystery. A huge theme in my illustrations is the blending of the imaginary with reality, and I often pursue this by combining stylization with realism. I love taking beautiful and whimsical things and then adding a dark, almost harsh, reality to the concept or composition. Finding a balance between the rawness of reality and the childish beauty of whimsicality is a challenge that I love exploring in my illustrations. The fantastical is most often my subject matter of choice and it utterly dominates my personal projects: fairies, mermaids, elves, dwarves, gnomes, aliens, ghosts, monsters, etc. However, fairies are my guilty pleasure. I have been absolutely enamored and awestruck by them since I was a kid: drawing them, collecting articles, reading books, watching movies, watching documentaries, collecting other people’s artwork, and so on. Capturing the invisible, yet ever present, world of the fae is an exciting and fun hobby of mine!
I am very hardworking and always striving to learn more about my craft. I primarily work digitally these days, but I love exploring traditional mediums for my personal artwork. When working traditionally I explore several different techniques and mediums like pastels, ink, watercolor paint, watercolor pencils, acrylic paint, oil paint, gouache, colored pencils, and sometimes markers. Pastels, ink, colored pencils, and charcoal are my preferred mediums for traditional artwork, since I have the most control and knowledge over those mediums. Photoshop is quickly becoming my preferred method of creating artwork though. Using a Windows Surface Pro has been game changing in creating digital artwork, and has made it so much more accessible and is less time consuming to work on. In my free-time, I am attempting to learn how to use 3D programs to more efficiently communicate my imagery and ideas. Z Brush is my primary interest since it's character based and good for character concept art and creation. It's also a lot less intimidating than Maya and other 3D programs!
I am a Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) alumni with a B.F.A. in Illustration for Entertainment. I graduated on May 31, 2019, and am pursuing work as a freelance illustrator. My future goal is to work with game companies while pursuing portraiture and murals in my local area.
